Coaching is a recognised discipline used by Professional Development specialists. Working with a Coach is relevant when we talk about generating peak performance; improving communication skills, enlarging own influence within organisation; managing smooth transitions; enhancing leadership skills; ensuring knowledge management,.. As such Coaching is the practice of providing support and occasional advice to an individual, or a group. The Coach guides the Coachee using different methods and tools (active listening, organisational diagnostic, transactional analysis, MBTI, .. ) allowing the Coachee to find own solutions and to apply them in order to meet his/her objectives. Executive Coaching ? Business Coaching ? Executive Coaching: The Coaching involves the Executive (Leader, Manager), the Coach and the Executive organisational context. Executive Coaching focuses on the needs of the Executive and on the needs of the Organisation. Business Coaching: The Coaching involves the Professional and the Coach. Business Coaching focuses only on the needs and the objectives of the Professional.
Business Coaching, how does it work ? Preliminary session The first contact is followed up by a preliminary interview of 45 minutes. This meeting aims to confirm the coaching need, to check the match Coachee/Coach and potentially, to suggest the Coachee another Coach. During the meeting the Coach will propose the Coachee methods and tools that can be used during the Coaching. If the preliminary interview is positive the first Coaching session will be fixed. The preliminary interview is free of charge. Contract A contract is established during the first Coaching session. The contract is the reference for both parties during the Coaching. Start and end Each Coaching has a start and an end. The Coaching appraisal closes the set of sessions. Length As an example Coaching can last four months with as an average, two sessions of an hour and a half per month. Confidentiality is part of the professional ethics of the Coach.
